The Universal Spirit

The Universal Spirit

You are never alone

You have not lost your self-confidence and awareness of your Inner Invisible Self or Real Self. With an open mind and a positive attitude, if you make a deep study of all the religions, you will find many similarities. Very often, the same truth has been described under different names and expressions.

एकं सद्विप्रा बहुधा वदन्ति
ekam sadvipraa bahudhaa vadanti

The Rig Veda

English Translation:

The Ultimate Truth (God) is one. Different spiritual teachers describe different language and expression. I mention a verse from the Holy Bhagavad Gita. During counseling the warrior king and hero, Arjuna, Lord Krishna declares:

यदा यदा हि धर्मस्य ग्लानिर्भवति भारत |
अभ्युत्थानमधर्मस्य तदात्मानं सृजाम्यहम् ||

yadā yadā hi dharmasya glānir bhavati bhārata
abhyutthānam adharmasya tadātmānaṁ sṛijāmyaham

THE BHAGAVAD GITA CH4 V 7

English Translation:

O, Descendant of Emperor Bharata, whenever and wherever spirituality and spiritual values decline and evils increase, I (God) take form and materialize Myself, using my Power of Relativity

Concept of an Avatar

As we observe in the next verse, this taking birth of God as an Avatar or Incarnation is not whimsical or coincidence or an accidental phenomenon. It is mentioned in the next verse:

परित्राणाय साधूनां विनाशाय च दुष्कृताम् |
धर्मसंस्थापनार्थाय सम्भवामि युगे युगे ||

paritrāṇāya sādhūnāṁ vināśhāya cha duṣhkṛitām
dharma-sansthāpanārthāya sambhavāmi yuge yuge

THE BHAGAVAD GITA CH4 V 8

EnglishTranslation:

To protect and maintain the spiritual values, spiritual people, to eliminate the evil and devil powers, I recreate Myself and assume My Divine Form. This necessarily means that God is constantly watching. He monitors the Creation of the proportions of spiritual energy and non-spiritual energy. There have to be units of measurements of both. It appears to be the collective will and experience of the existing energy level of a group of people, at a particular time and place. God is One, Indivisible, ever-existent, and deathless. Perhaps, He is the materialization of the Universal Will, Universal Soul – Paramatma. God is essentially Formless. When the collective experience and awareness becomes overwhelmed with Tri-Taapa. That is the physical, mental, and spiritual sufferings, the tyranny of dictatorial and evil powers, the sum total of the Universal Spirit takes form as an Avatar.

What is the purpose of an Avatar ?

The sole purpose of (and Soul Purpose) of such an Avatar is to cut down and eliminate non-spirituality, non-religion, to protect, promote, uphold the moral, spiritual values and the spiritual people. Thereby re-establishing the disciplined freedom, happiness, and harmony of the innumerable species of the Creation: human beings, apes, animals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, insects, fungi, bacteria, viruses, the plant kingdom, etc. It also includes the whole Creation coming out from the permutation and combination of the 5 great elements. There are inner unity and harmony in all these. They all and maybe more, constitute the Universe, both visible and invisible and/or the collective Universal Soul, Will, Shakti, Praana, Power or Energy. The essence is love or oneness which upholds it. Here I remember another beautiful and Grand Declaration of the Satguru (Master), Lord Krishna in the Holy Bhagavad Gita:

मत्त: परतरं नान्यत्किञ्चिदस्ति धनञ्जय |
मयि
 सर्वमिदं प्रोतं सूत्रे मणिगणा इव ||
mattaḥ parataraṁ nānyat kiñchid asti dhanañjaya
mayi sarvam idaṁ protaṁ sūtre maṇi-gaṇā iva

THE BHAGAVAD GITA  CH7 V7

EnglishTranslation:

O, Dhananjaya ( Arjuna, the energetic, active, and successful hero ), in this whole Creation, there is nothing else special, more or greater than Me (God, the most Supreme, and the Ultimate Boss, the combination or Oneness of Creator and the Creation). As the beads of a necklace are held together by a single thread passing through the middle (Heart) of each bead, effectively making unity of the multiplicity of this whole Creation (Universe), visible and invisible, perceptible and imperceptible. It is existing, connected through the Heart, by Me(God). I am their ultimate support and shelter. God or the Universal Soul, the Universal Spirit, who is the Real and Ultimate Cause of the Whole Creation, both imaginable and unimaginable. In fact, the whole of Chapter 7 of the Holy Bhagavad Gita is full of this beautiful, inspiring, and uplifting knowledge.

You are never alone

You are never alone. Nobody is ever alone in this vast, grandest, and mind-boggling Creation. Interestingly, every point in this Infinity is its Center of Heart. The Bindu ( Atom Point) and The Sindhu ( Endless Ocean, the Infinity of God) are one. Every point in this most complex scheme of Creation is constantly monitored by God. Please be careful in your assessment or interpretation of this statement. God is never the autocratic, merciless, supreme dictator ready to pounce upon you, in the event of even a minor slip in your conduct or duties. Nothing is farther than the truth than this wrong interpretation. God can be compared to kind, loving, forgiving, helping, sustaining, and supporting parents. When it comes to parents, it necessarily means happy, harmonious, prosperous, and forgiving parents. This truth is presented and taught to all the children of God by various teachers, at various places at different times.

An Avatar of God

All these great teachers are Avatars of God, the self-materialized Divine Forms of the Formless God. All the major philosophies and religions are examples of this Divine phenomenon. When God decides to assume a form to teach the people, He takes into consideration their language, traditions, food habits, clothing, styles, expressions, the physical, mental, intellectual, and spiritual makeup of the people. He becomes one of them. He teaches and guides not only by traditional method using speech and thoughts but also by living the ideals and setting the examples so that others can follow. This is the reason for the fact that even if God is One, the great teachers and Avatars present the Single Truth in different styles, different expressions, by different languages. This is for consumer satisfaction; as we are all consumers. God is One and Only Provider. It is beautifully and poetically expressed in the Hindi language,

दाने दाने पे लिखा है खानेवाले का नाम खानेवाले हैं बहुत देनेवाला एकराम
dane dane pe likha hai khane wale ka naam khanewale hain bahut denewala ek Ram

EnglishTranslation:

In every grain of food, the name of the consumer is written invisibly. The consumers are many, but the supplier or provider or giver of this food is only One. The one is God, Who is described by different names. Never despair, never feel frustrated, never feel lonely and helpless. You are constantly monitored, much better than any Intensive Care Unit in any modern hospital. You are not monitored by machines and robots. But by the compassionate, loving, and forgiving God, Who is our own Soul., the Inner Self of all beings. But you have to make up your mind. Be sure of your needs, and ask for it to God only and to nobody in particular outside yourself. Ask lovingly, confidently, and silently to your Kutastha Chaitanya at the mid-point of your two eyebrows or to your heart.

The techniques are taught by our classic and original Kriya Yoga. In brief, first of all, the mind gets calm, cooled by the bow, Kriya Pranayam of easy, simple, rhythmic and harmonious breathing technique. The inner purification is achieved by the practice of Mahamudra. The Light of the Soul is perceived by practicing Yoni or Jyoti Mudra. Then say your prayer or loving demands to God. Please believe me, it works. You don’t have to change your religion, status, basic food habit, or profession. You are to remain you, the real you, the inner you. Please practice Kriya Yoga sincerely, lovingly, and daily. Overcome stress and its complications with these positive methods.

ओम् तत् सत्
Om Tat Sat
GOD IS THE ONLY TRUTH

May the daily, sincere and correct practice of Kriya Yoga bring out the best in you. May you realize your full potentialities in this life.

With Love and Best Wishes,
Paramahansa Atmananda Ji
